As Commander in Chief, Obama would be hard pressed to think of a more despicable act he could perform than to undermine morale by springing convicted traitor Bradley “Chelsea” Manning. So that’s what he did:
Obama on Tuesday largely commuted the remaining prison sentence of Chelsea Manning, the army intelligence analyst convicted of an enormous 2010 leak that revealed American military and diplomatic activities across the world, disrupted the administration and made WikiLeaks, the recipient of those disclosures, famous. …
Under the terms of Mr. Obama’s commutation announced by the White House on Tuesday, [Mr.] Manning is set to be freed on May 17 of this year, rather than in 2045.
In a spiteful mood because he was having a lovers’ spat with another homosexual, Manning deliberately released about a three-quarters of a million restricted documents while serving in the Army. The release of each document essentially constituted treason, a crime traditionally punished by death. But we live in anti-traditional times; he was convicted of violating the Espionage Act and other offenses but not treason, and thus escaped a well-earned firing squad.
The disclosures set off a frantic scramble as Obama administration officials sought to minimize any potential harm, including getting to safety some foreigners in dangerous countries who were identified as having helped American troops or diplomats.
No doubt Americans were also placed at grave risk. Our terrorist enemies benefited, potentially endangering all of us. Manning didn’t care.
It wasn’t until after the sentencing that he declared himself to be a woman named Chelsea. If this was a gambit to win the affection of the sort of people who have been running the country, it worked.
Looks like being a perverted freak is all it takes to redeem yourself for what should be capital offenses — unless anyone believes Manning would have gotten his commutation if not for the LGBT angle. This is great news for Shiloh Heavenly Quine, a convicted murderer who is getting a sex change at public expense. After all, murder is no more serious a crime than treason. Why not release Quine too?
Never mind, I know the answer. Treason against America is not a crime in Obama’s book, but an achievement. Otherwise, his foreign policy and much of his rhetoric would be incomprehensible.
The silver lining is that Bradley will have to spend the rest of his life looking over his shoulder.
It will be a blessed day Friday, when America finally scrapes Obama off the bottom of its shoe.
