Self-Defense: The “Rhino”…

Trigger Reset Wants You to be Safe…

What You Should Know:

  • This technique is simple, and instinctive…
  • It counters the most common street attack; a wild, wide hook…
  • It combines a block with a strike…
  • Watch the videos, and practice. It takes about 2,000 – 3,000 repetitions to instill “muscle memory” so that the movement is automatic. If you train twice a week for twenty minutes and do 20 of these each session, in twelve months you will have done over 2000 repetitions…

We’re not interested in flowery, eloquent “techniques” that require years of training and are ineffective in a violent encounter.

We desire to avoid violence, and if it’s unavoidable, we want to be really good at it and end the fight quickly…and brutally. This technique accomplishes those goals, or at least it will put you in position to do so.

The block defends against a right hook, which is the number one opening move in an attack…because it’s also instinctive and it works…look at the “knockout game” videos, prison fight videos, or simply search “hook knockouts.” If you land a nice hook on the chin, jaw, or behind the ear on the back of the skull, it “rattles the opponents brain” and the brain takes a nap and shuts down. Here’s a nice example

The “Rhino” defends against the right hook, a straight punch, and a left hook. Moving into the attacker lessens the force of their strike, and puts you in a position to access their throat, eyes, and lots of other tasty targets…

At the same time, you attack with the palm heel uppercut. I love this strike because it is invisible. Don’t believe me? …look straight ahead and place your hand on your chest. Move your hand up and down against your chest and as long as you look at something in front of you, you cannot see your hand. The attacker cannot see the strike either. It’s also very effective. At a minimum this strike will put the assailant off balance and offer up their throat and groin for attack, but the strike will usually send them down hard, causing them lose consciousness. It can kill.
