Wonder why none of this is on the news…and if it is, the names and descriptions are left out to “protect the guilty.”
First, Ms. Evenson Meets a “refugee”:
Morgan Evenson (In our feature photo) was walking home in downtown Minneapolis about 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 13 when a black Somali man got out of his car, chased her down, tackled and stabbed her repeatedly. The feisty 26-year-old frantically fought back, kicking, scratching and screaming for help.
At some point, neighbors heard her screams and came to help. Her attacker – described as a Somali Muslim man in his early 20s, about 5-foot-7 with a slight build and wearing grey stone-washed jeans – ran away.
Evenson was left bleeding on the curb with 14 stab wounds on her arms, neck and back. Her kidney was lacerated. She was lucky to survive the attack.
It happened while she was walking home from the Apple Store, where she worked, about eight blocks away from her apartment. That’s when the man attacked her for no apparent reason.
Police, who have not made any arrests in the case, are calling it a botched robbery.
Police have called the case unusual for the level of brutality just to get a woman’s purse, leading some to wonder if the assailant didn’t want more than just a purse.
The Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the city’s largest newspaper, has been AWOL on the story. Only one media outlet, local ABC News affiliate KSTP, included in its on-air coverage the fact that the victim described her assailant as Somali, but the station’s website article failed to mention that fact.

Next, Let’s Give a Muslim a truck and turn him loose:
Illinois State Police say a Colorado man was the driver of a truck that crashed into several vehicles on Interstate 55 in southwestern Illinois, killing four people.
Police spokesman Calvin Dye Jr. says 53-year-old Mohamed Yussuf Jama of Greeley was driving the tractor-trailer when it crashed into vehicles that had slowed or stopped in a construction zone near Hamel on Nov. 21.
Dye told the Belleville News-Democrat that no citations had been issued to Jama as of Saturday. An investigation was continuing.
The crash, which involved eight vehicles, killed 20-year-old Tori Carroll of Alhambra; 20-year-old Hailey Bertels and her 17-year-old sister, Madisen Bertels, of Staunton; and 19-year-old Vivian Vu of Joplin, Missouri.
State police investigators are reviewing Jama’s medical records, toxicology, commercial driver log books and the truck, Dye told the News-Democrat.
Jama’s 2016 Freightliner Cascadia slammed into cars on Interstate 55 with “no attempt to stop,” Dye said. The cars were slowed or stopped in traffic, ahead of the truck.
The semi ran over some vehicles.
“This is one of the worst crashes some of us have ever seen,” Dye told the Illinois paper.
Hamel is about 30 miles northeast of St. Louis.
The crash was captured on video by a camera mounted in a tractor-trailer that was not involved in the crash. That video, captured from behind the crash, shows that Jama’s truck “crashed into multiple passenger vehicles in front of it without braking,” according to the detective’s affidavit.
Illinois State Police say eight vehicles were involved in the crash, which occurred at about 6:15 p.m. on the southbound side of the interstate at milepost 27, just south of Hamel. The accident killed four people and injured another 12.
