More Winning! Brett Kavanaugh Will be a Justice on Our Supreme Court …

Judge Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed by the U.S. Senate this afternoon, by a 50-48 vote. The next Supreme Court Justice is expected to be sworn in later this evening, restoring the nation’s highest court to the appropriate nine Justices. None of this could have occurred without key votes from women, and a lone Democrat.

Senator Susan Collins from Maine had faced extreme pressure and threats from left-wing activists, like many other lawmakers. After reviewing the judge’s record, hearing from his accusers, and reviewing a seventh F.B.I. investigation into Kavanaugh, demanded by Democrats and Senator Jeff Flake, Collins gave an excellent speech to justify her decision, and voted to seat Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court.

Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia was the lone Democrat who rejected partisan politics and voted for the judge. Manchin also was facing pressure, but mostly from the opposite direction as a large majority of voters in his state had made it clear they wanted Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court.

President Trump appeared jubilant at the news of yet another win.

Candidate Trump had promised Americans so much “winning,” that eventually Americans would tire of winning.

After his second court pick in as many years was confirmed, Trump proclaimed, “I applaud and congratulate the U.S. Senate for confirming our GREAT NOMINEE [sic], Judge Brett Kavanaugh, to the United States Supreme Court. Later today, I will sign his Commission of Appointment, and he will be officially sworn in. Very exciting!”

The President announced Brett Kavanaugh as his pick on July 9, almost three months ago.

Immediately, Democrats made it clear that they would oppose the president’s choice.

Senator Chuck Schumer vowed within minutes of Trump’s announcement that he would fight the nomination, “with everything I have.” At that time, Schumer had never met with the judge.

Apparently, everything Schumer had, wasn’t enough.

After attacks on the judge’s record failed, and as the hearing drew to a close, Democrats miraculously produced several allegations of sexual misconduct involving Kavanaugh.

The accusations were uncorroborated, more than thirty years old, and ranged from implying that young Kavanaugh supposedly touched women against their will in a drunken stupor, to claims of rape.

These salacious, and sometimes anonymous claims, also ended up falling short.

Protests erupted, and professional activists harassed Senators in elevators and chased them into restrooms, in efforts by leftists to intimidate lawmakers into voting against the judge. Senators faced death threats from liberals, and had their personal information released as many on the left did their best to intimidate senators with fascist-like tactics.

These tactics proved inadequate as well, and Republicans withstood the furious onslaught.

Kavanaugh’s confirmation can be viewed by many as a big win for President Trump, and for the nation.

Kavanaugh described his judicial philosophy that a judge, “must interpret the Constitution as written, informed by history and tradition and precedent.”

Several conservative groups endorsed the President’s choice.

The N.R.A. called him an outstanding choice, with an impressive record of support for the Second Amendment.

The National Right to Life also approved him, and their senior policy director gave Kavanaugh a glowing endorsement.

“Judge Kavanaugh’s record, viewed as a whole, indicates a willingness to enforce the rights truly based on the text and history of the Constitution, while otherwise leaving policymaking in the hands of elected legislators. Kavanaugh is exceptionally well qualified to sit on the U.S. Supreme Court — and like Neil Gorsuch, he will be subjected to a smear campaign by those on the Left who are addicted to the imposition of social policy by judicial decree,” Douglas Johnson stated.

Conservatives characterized Judge Kavanaugh as strong on gun rights, strong on the U.S. Constitution, strong on the right to life, and strong on religious freedom, based on the lengthy record of his opinions.

Even the American Bar Association, often considered a left-leaning group, gave the judge their highest rating of “Well Qualified.”

None of this seemed to matter to Democrats, fighting Kavanaugh’s confirmation with everything they had.

Instead of the point of the process being to fill a vacant Supreme Court seat with a supremely qualified judge, to the left the point seemed to be opposing the President at all costs.

Never mind if their antics destroyed a good man’s reputation, and hurt his family. It didn’t appear to matter if some of their base might be driven to violence against elected officials, or that the spectacle might costs them seats in the mid-term elections.

Today, the Senate voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh, with the votes of Collins and Manchin pushing him over the line.
